Empowering Rural Communities: The importance of developing Governance Models on Circular Bioeconomy

BIOTRANSFORM was featured at the upcoming SCALE UP WS6 S2 session titled "Empowering Rural Communities: The Importance of Developing Governance Models on Circular Bioeconomy." This event highlighted innovative governance models and tools aimed at supporting rural regions in adopting circular bioeconomy practices.

The training session showcased a variety of case studies, including:

  • The ROBIN Toolbox: A tool designed to help regions create governance models for a circular bioeconomy.
  • IME's Tools for North Macedonia: Sustainable waste management and value chain development solutions tailored for North Macedonian communities.
  • BIOTRANSFORM's MooV Tool: An innovative tool to addressing logistics challenges in the circular bioeconomy.
  • Circular Cities & Regions Initiative (CCRI) Self-Assessment Tool: A tool for evaluating progress in circular and sustainable systems.

A distinguished panel of experts led the session, including:

  • Nadja Schlichenmaier (Steinbeis Europa Zentrum)
  • Goran Damovski & Nikola Derebanov (IME)
  • Astrid Stalmans (VITO)
  • Representative from CCRI-CSO

The session concluded with an open discussion, offering participants a chance to engage with the speakers and explored how these governance models and tools can be applied to empower rural communities and foster sustainable development.
